Additive manufacturing,is originally known as rapid prototyping manufacturing, and nowadays more commonly known as 3D printing. It is a manufacturing method based on the principle of "discrete/stacking",which transfers the traditional multidimensional"subtractive" manufacturing into the two-dimensional manufacturing by layer-by-layer additive stacking. The unstoppable wave of globalization of various additive manufacturing technologies has enabled it to be applied and developed in multiple industries. At present,it has covered many fields such as manufacturing, medical treatment, education, aerospace, military and so on.Its application in foundry is mainly in the rapid manufacturing of sand molds/cores,direct printing of metal products, and defect repairing.Casting technology has also rapidly developed due to the emergence of additive manufacturing technology.
