Intraperitoneal chemotherapy for gastric cancer:A contemporary perspective
Stage Ⅳ gastric cancer and peritoneal metastasis
Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignancies worldwide and is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths (1). Over the past few decades, advances in surgical techniques and chemotherapy have improved the prognosis for patients with gastric cancer. Despite these advances, the prognosis of gastric cancer patients with peritoneal metastasis remains poor, with a median survival rate (MST) of 9-11 months even with systemic chemotherapy (2,3).
