PCAF and SIRT1 modulate βTrCP1 protein stability in an acetylation-dependent manner
Ubiquitination plays critical roles in regulating various physiolog-ical events,such as protein degradation,activation,secretion,sort-ing and trafficking (Dang et al.,2021).The ubiquitination process involves three major steps,catalyzed by ubiquitin-activating en-zymes (E1s),ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes (E2s),and ubiquitin li-gases (E3s),respectively (Scheffner et al.,1995).Currently,more than 600 ubiquitin E3 ligases have been identified in human genome,being subjected into 4 major types:HECT domain proteins,U-box proteins,monomeric RING finger E3s,and multi-subunit RING-type E3s (Bedford et al.,2011).These enzymes coordinate the ubiquitina-tion of thousands of downstream substrates,involving in tight control of various physiological processes.
