In situ structural reconstruction of NiMo alloy as a versatile organic oxidation electrode for boosting hydrogen production
Substitution of the electrocatalytic oxygen evolution by value-added organic synthesis is an effective and promis-ing strategy to improve the efficiency of hydrogen evolu-tion.Here,the NiMo nanorod array electrode is fabricated as the multifunctional electrode for diverse electrocatalytic organic oxidation reactions to generate carboxylic acids, nitriles, and dihydroisoquinolines(DHIQs)with high yields and high selectivity.NiⅢ species are confirmed as domi-nant intermediates by in situ Raman spectroscopy to pro-mote the organic oxidation. And the leaching Mo component helps the surface reconstruction to expose more Nim active sites, thus enhancing the catalytic performance.Additionally, the bifunctional NiMo electrodes can be assembled into a two-electrode electrolyzer for boosting hydrogen production by coupling with the furfural oxy-genation at a smaller voltage than that of overall water splitting.
