Unraveling molecular-level mechanisms of reactive facet of carbon nitride single crystals photocatalyzing overall water splitting

Despite the reactive facets play a vital role in designing highly efficient photocatalysts,it has long been a tremen-dous challenge to reveal the principle that reactive facets favor photocatalysis at the molecular level.In a recent work published in Nature catalysis,Lin et al.[1]investi-gated photocatalytic properties of the {10(1)0} and {0001}planes of polytriazine imide(PTI)/Li+Cl-single crystals by photodeposition of co-catalysts,which paves the way to develop high efficiency polymer photocatalysts for overall water splitting.
