Laparoscopic hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma: are oncologic outcomes truly superior to an open approach?
Despite decades of research and an emerging understanding of the molecular biology of disease, the prognosis for patients diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains poor. Epidemiologic surveys continue to show a rising incidence of disease and therapeutic options remain largely ineffective.
