Risk Factors for Renal Involvement in Patients with Immunoglobulin A Vasculitis/Henoch-Sch(o)nlein Purpura: An Updated Review
IntroductionImmunoglobulin A vasculitis (IgAV),also called HenochSch(o)nlein purpura (HSP),is a leukocytoclastic vasculitis with the deposition of IgA immune complexes in small vessels,1 mainly affecting capillaries,venules,or arterioles.2 According to the European League Against Rheumatism/The Paediatric Rheumatology International Trials Organisadon/The Paediatric Rheumatology European Society (EULAR/PRINTO/PRES) criteria,HSP should be diagnosed based on the presence of purpura or petechiae (mandatory) with lower limb predominance and without thrombocytopenia or coagulopathy plus at least one of the following four criteria:(1) abdominal pain;(2) histopathology (IgA);(3) arthritis or arthralgia;and (4) renal involvement.
